Hande Demirel is one of the last students of the communication master, Prof. Dr. Ünsal Oskay.
She holds a Masters Degree and graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Communication.
Her interest in journalism began while she was studying in the Faculty of Architecture in Mimar Sinan University. As a student, she started working in sector magazines for Sabah Group, 1 Numara Publishing in 1997.
She worked as an economics correspondent in Sabah Newspaper. She was among one of the founders of the first Human Resources newspapers, “İşte İnsan” published under Sabah Newspaper Group in 2001.
Her various articles were published in Posta and Hürriyet newspapers. She worked as a news reporter, editor and lastly as the News Director in one of the leading business and economy magazines of Turkey, Capital, between the years 2002 and 2010.
She moved to London in 2011, as the representative of Bloomberg HT. She worked in Bloomberg International’s European Headquarters for 2 years. She was also assigned in New York and Rome during this period for various duties.
In addition to the education that she received at the London School of Journalism, she completed various certificate programmes related to finance and financial markets; the main topics she focused on for the last 8 years.
Hande Demirel, conducting interviews with many CEOs and businessmen in Turkey and around the world, has also written research papers on management, leadership, human resources, marketing, work models and strategies. A wide range of summaries she has written on business-related books have been published in Capital magazine.
Besides, between the years 2001 and 2010, she directed the publishing for the technology magazine “Digital” published under Doğan Burda Magazine Group, Siemens AG’s magazine “Gelecek ve Trendler” (The Future and The Trends) published globally that introduces the future technologies and the lifestyle magazine, “CEO Life” intended for business world. She had publications about investment funds, private pension system and factoring. She worked as a consultant for private sector and assisted in corporate magazine publishing and communication.
She still gives lectures about “financial and economy journalism” in various educational institutions and also offers private lessons to executives. She acts as a moderator in conferences, seminars and similar events intended for business world; organised by the public and private sectors.
Hande Demirel, who has a good command of English and French, defines herself a world citizen and is also interested in music, arts, social sciences and travelling in addition to her journalist background.
She has been making and hosting the TV Programmes “Piyasa Hattı” (Market Zone) and “Akıllı Para” (Wise Money) in BloombergHT since she came back to Turkey in September 2013.
